The reconstruction of an old Istrian house was commissioned by an elder couple in search for a pleasant spot for a retreat and to host personal guests.

A more conservative approach was adopted, in the effort to respect the traditional qualities of the building. The stone wall structure was emphasised, the wooden ceiling construction was exposed and an old fire place typical for the local architecture was restored. All the new interventions were carefully conceived in order to respect the traditional elements and to create a homogeneous dialogue between the new and the old.

The aim was to reorganise the internal floor disposition to guarantee the host and the guest the same level of privacy and intimacy in the first floor, while creating a common space to hang out on ground level.
